Test on fire-resistance is a substantial part of necessary verification of a fireproof installation channel, which was developed as an output of the solved project FR-TI1/216.
The final designed fire-resistant mixture with the most appropriate characteristics for this kind of materials was used for pilot production of individual segments of the installation channel. A sample of the fire-resistant channel was assembled according to relevant standards into a testing furnace in the test institute for fire-resistance PAVUS, a.s. in a way, which represents its common using in praxis.
After necessary 1 week conditioning of the channel in the furnace environment the test on fire-resistance was carried out with result that the channel reached even better fire-resistance than it was expected according to laboratory results.

The article deals with the working safety regarding lifting mechanism in construction. The author mentions basic legislation that deals with this matter in the introductory part of the article. Then the author attempts to identify basic risks that are often present when lifting mechanisms are used in construction. The author also tries to emphasize the necessity to prevent the risks already in the preparatory phase of the project. The concluding part of the article contains the author´ s encouragement to increase the working safety in construction.

Hidden defects of buildings, which may become evident only in winter, are one of the biggest problems of any real property purchase. The article gives some advice how to detect them in advance so that the buyer may be prevented from submitting time consuming, expensive and often ineffective claims in face of the previous owner.

The paper focus on smoldering combustion, its description and the accompanying phenomena associated with it. The accidents about smoldering or flaming combustion of organic material such as hay, straw, etc. are written very often. Processes that lead to these phenomena last not minute, but days or weeks. In this paper there is described the process leading to self-heating smoldering. Given the long-term nature of processes can be easily directed to the prevention, some of these methods are described in this paper.

Previous article presented FMA model and his verification in practice. This article focuses on the presentation of possible areas of development model FMA and FM area. The research of model FMA detected three main areas of research. This article presents just two of them. The first research area should address the question of the application of EN 15221 in practice and its applicability for the detection of FM processes in the company. The second area of research is the methodology of accounting costs to FM area. The last research area is the creation map of risks for each process.

Nowadays implemented and operated buildings services do not fully utilise current technical industry standards. The reason is not only a pressure for investment cost cutting, but also professionalism level of investor’s consultants and planners. Another negative impact has reducing time for both project preparation and realization.
Disproportionate cost cutting of operation and energies leads to suppressed running of technical equipment. Additionally the reducing of staff and qualified personnel results in ineffective way of operation. Technical capabilities of installed devices are not properly and fully used, so the required technical parameters are not followed in air conditioned spaces.

Elevators belong to a very important building services and technologies. For these reasons, they need to pay attention not only in terms of proper technical implementation, but also in terms of fire safety. In particular, fire and evacuation lifts, which are also very important fire safety devices must also meet the stringent technical requirements of fire protection.

The paper summarized the results of the research works dealing with the development of advanced cementitious composite materials with fibre reinforcement designed for antiterrorist systems. The effect of different randomly dispersed fibre reinforcement (glass, basalt, polymer and steel fibre of 12–55 mm length and their combinations) on physical mechanical properties of the composite and its overall blast resistance was evaluated. The developed material was used for the design of blast resistant litter bin. The final dimensions, geometry and composition of the layers were defined using the numerical simulations in LS-Dyna implicit/explicit solver. The blast resistance of the element was subsequently verified by blast tests on the real product.

Quality of provided services for the organization - the client -  is a priority in relation to its primary activity. STN EN 15221-3 Quality in Facility Management specifies the procedure for determining the quality of facility management services. Its purpose is to provide guidance how to achieve, measure and improve their level. This European Standard is primarily written for organizations that adopt quality improvement procedures together with SL definition and the use of metrics.

The media regularly appear alarming reports, according to the Czech Republic gets into trouble with the fulfillment of its obligations towards the EU, due to the lack of state financial support. This information is frequently based on calculations originating from the potential recipient of government subsidies, so we cannot rule out that this is about wishful thinking. One of the sectors where we reportedly threatened is the reduction of energy demands.

Modern buildings allow to unify monitoring and controlling of building automation and electronic systems under a common environment known as a Building Management System. Although in many environments the BMS represents an unnecessary feature that only improves the user experience, with growing size of the facility the BMS becomes essential for a building operation. BMS ensures a communication between users and devices and helps to significantly reduce costs of a system expansion. In that case, a reliability and an availability of the BMS becomes critical for a smooth operation. This article presents technical, methodical and process aspects of a high reliability in the BMS, based on experience with a long-term operation of the BMS at the Masaryk University. Fulfilling the presented principles enables the BMS to serve as a primary environment for controlling of the building operation.

Previous article presented findings from marketing research and was introduced pilot model of Facility Management audit. This article is aimed at presenting the results of the testing of the pilot model FMA in a medium-sized engineering company. Testing the model revealed several complications. Some were resolved during testing, but some complications need a deeper and longer-term research and coordination of commercial companies.

Safeguarding perfect labour safety should be a principal requirement respected by all parties involved in the building process in particular from the point of view of the variety of works performed and complexity of building industry conditions as well as with regard to individual risks endangering life and health of workers during the preparation and performance of construction works. As far as individual entities operating in the building industry (tradesmen, small, medium-sized and big building companies) are concerned, adequate attention to labour safety is usually paid big building companies, only, who have sufficient resources to address this complex issued in a systematic way. It was the difficult economic situation associated with a considerable decline of the building production what has recently forced many building companies to implement significant saving measures that could affect the labour safety, too. The paper should show an apparent link between the economic situation, saving measures and labour safety in the building industry and call attention to apparent risks associated with the circumvention or violation of labour safety rules in order to keep profitability and competiveness of buildings companies.

Unplanned impact loads such as explosions or car crashes in urban areas are a tragic consequence of nowadays life. These events can lead to loss of life, injury, and damage to property. Deep understanding of blast wave absorptive materials´ behavior subjected to loading is necessary for design of protective structures.
For the initial experiments different fractions of two filler (ceramic aggregate and expanded glass granulate) and two-component polyurethane binder were chosen. The physical-mechanical characteristics were determined on prepared test specimens – bulk density, flexural strength, compressive and impact strength. Load-displacement curves were captured as an important characteristic of materials´ behavior under quasi-static load.
The properties of designed materials incorporated in selected blast resistant systems were subsequently verified by both numerical simulations and real blast tests.

Air change rate in a building depends on the weather conditions, building envelope tightness, operation of technical equipment and user activity. On object structural system P1.14/BA were during the heating season (1991–1992) monitored during the opening vent windows (wings). Take into account the impact of opening windows in addition to the minimum intensity of air change rate n = 0,5 + Δn.
